Sunday Service, via Zoom and in-person: We Thought We Belonged, A Remembrance Day Service

Worship Team Leaders: Rev. Diane Rollert, Sandra Hunt, Eleuthera Diconca-Lippert, Mx. Katharine Childs, Shoshanna Green, Caite Clark, Bryan Vidal

The observance of Remembrance Day has been a long tradition in the history of the Unitarian Church of Montreal. Perhaps it became part of the congregation’s psyche when the first “Armistice Day” commemorated the agreement that ended the First World War on Monday, November 11, 1918, at 11 a.m. Each year, we commemorate our veterans, while acknowledging our deep longing for peace. This year, as Canada has left Afghanistan and tens of thousands of Afghans who assisted our troops have been left behind — many seeking refugee status — we consider what it means to belong during the tragic realities of war. We will be joined by guest trombonist, Matthew Hunt Russell.
