Rev. Diane Rollert invites you to join her in her family’s tradition of the Passover Seder, via Zoom. Click here to register in advance. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. You may wish to have wine, water and the following items on hand for your own Seder plate:
- A lamb shank, chicken bone or a slice of beet to symbolize the sacrificial lamb that was eaten at the time of the Exodus.
- A hardboiled or roasted egg, a symbol of springtime, fertility, and the giving of life.
- Bitter herbs such as horse radish, a symbol of the bitterness of slavery.
- Charoset — a mixture of chopped apples, nuts and wine to represent the mortar that used by the Israelite slaves to build the pyramids. There are many recipes online, here’s one: https://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/traditional-apple-walnut-charoset-234298
- Parsley — symbolic of the coming of spring and the rebirth of hope.
- Matzah – unleavened bread that the Israelites made in haste as they fled Egypt.
- An orange - to represent all who are marginalized around the world.
