Guest speaker: Bouchera Chelbi
Musical guests: Cobb’s Cats (Jane Critchlow, Denis Barsalo and Stuart Edding)
Join Rev. Diane and her guest, Bouchera Chelbi, as we continue to cultivate relationships with our Muslim siblings. Mme Chelbi is a teacher and outspoken voice for justice, equity, diversity and inclusion. She is one of the plaintiffs in the legal case being put forward by Coalition Inclusion Québec against Bill 21, a law that directly prohibits teachers, lawyers and others from wearing religious symbols in government-related offices, including schools. Mme Chelbi is among a small group of teachers who have been “grandfathered” by the law. She still holds her position but is banned from any movement in her career, whether lateral or as a promotion. This Sunday, she joins us to share her thoughts about the observance of Ramadan and the celebration of her faith.
