In 1969, students of Sir George Williams University (now Concordia) held a 14-day sit-in after six Black West Indian students accused a biology lecturer of racism. Members of the Unitarian Church of Montreal were there, some as students, others as teachers, and one, the late D.B. Clark, was acting principal at the time.
